Positioned at the convergence of the Dora of Verney with the Dora of Coumayeur, the town is located at an altitude of 1001 metres. It owes its name to the Latin “Prata ad Sanctum Desiderium” and developed where a military position once stood on the via delle Gallie, that passed through here. Just a stone’s throw from the centre you can admire a delightful natural spectacle: the Ravine, a deep, extremely narrow gorge shaped by the rushing waters of the Dora of Verney. Alongside the waterfall you will find two spa water sources that spring from the rock respectively at 22° and 36°. The town of Pré-Saint-Didier can, in fact, boast a well known spa system on its lands, built in 1834 and recently restored after being closed for 30 years. Close to the most beautiful valleys in the Valdigne, Pré-Saint-Didier is an excellent departure point for a large number of excursions. In winter, the ski resorts of Courmayeur and La Thuile in close proximity offer ski lovers vast kilometres of slopes.
